6.3 How to create new entries

Submit expert recommendations for publication

Entries describe experiences that travellers might want to include in their trip. A good entry helps readers understand what makes the experience interesting, what they should expect, and why you personally recommend it.

There is no strict length requirement, but most entries are around 250 words or more. The aim is simply to give travellers enough context to understand the experience and decide whether it might suit their plans.

Entries should focus on describing the experience itself rather than promoting your company or tours. Think of the tone you would expect from a good guidebook: informative, personal and helpful.

Editorial guidelines

To be published on Horizon Guides, entries should follow a few simple principles.

Expert

Share insights that come from your own experience of the destination. The most useful entries often include tips or observations that travellers might not easily find elsewhere.

Original

Focus on experiences that feel distinctive or interesting rather than obvious mainstream attractions.

Personal

Entries work best when they reflect your own knowledge and perspective. Write from experience rather than repeating general information.

Impartial

Describe the experience itself rather than promoting your company or tours. The goal is to help travellers understand the place, not to sell a product.

Your own work

Entries should be written in your own words. You can use AI tools to help polish the language if needed, but the ideas and insights should come from your own knowledge.

Submitting entries

There are two ways to contribute entries.

Write the text yourself

If you are comfortable writing in English, you can simply write the entry and submit it to the Horizon Guides editorial team.

Share your knowledge in a short interview

If you prefer not to write the text yourself, our editorial assistant can interview you and gather the information needed for the entry. The conversation follows the kinds of questions travellers typically ask when researching a destination.

In both cases, our editorial team will review your submission and make edits before publication. We’ll notify you once your entry has been published.
